Özet (EN)
Assembly occupancies are quite risky buildings in terms of fire safety. Highdensity of occupant load, unfamiliarity of occupants to the buildings, somefeatures of the buildings like having huge sizes, complex schema, an atrium andcommon use of combustible covering materials are reasons that require highfire safety precautions. In this thesis, characteristic features of assembly occupancies are explained;additionally national and international fire regulations are observed andanalyzed comparatively.Performance criteria are created as a result of these analyses and the sampleproject is evaluated via these criteria. In addition to this, the simulation methodis executed for this project, beforehand, the reliability of the software that hadbeen used in simulation was tested by means of comparing the result of theexercise (actual evacuation) had made for another project with the result of thesimulation for the same project. This comparison gave satisfactory results.viiThe sample project was simulated with tested model. As a conclusion of thesestudies, the importance of the performance- based fire safety design and thenecessities of applying the simulation in the design period are emphasized.Science Code : 804.1.099Key Words : Assembly occupancy, fire safety, means of egress, evacuationtime, evacuation models and fire regulationsPage Number : 259Adviser : Assoc.
