Özet (EN)
In the study, it was aimed to understand and evaluate workplace fires in terms of occupational health and safety by revealing the statistics included in the fire reports issued by fire departments. Within the scope of the study, the data was collected by examining the workplace fire reports recorded by the Adana Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department in 2019. In the evaluation of the data, the descriptive statistics; frequency, percentage, average and standard deviation values were used. Chi-square test was used in existing state analysis in-group comparisons of workplace fires included in the study. It was determined that the highest number of workplace fires had occurred in the private sector (p = .000) and in 3.93 of per thousand of workplaces in the private sector, a fire had broken out. Fires had mostly occurred in workplaces in which a business is carried on the service industry (p = .000). It was determined that workplace fires had broken out mainly becasuse of electricity and fall/drop of a burning objects (p = .000); points of origin were the personnel working areas and storage areas (p = .000). It has been concluded that the necessary attention was not given to the fire safety issue in workplaces, and the studies in the workplaces related to fire safety and facilities of workplaces were insufficient.
