Evaluation of accidents at cement industry by artificial intelligence approach

Abstract (EN)

Cement industry, one of the leading sectors economically for emerging countries, is recognised as a perilous work environment considering ist heavy working conditions and labour profiles. Hazards exposed during operations and unsafe behaviours are causing accidents. In addition to humon loss, accidents initiate unfavorable financial assests for victim of the accident, for the employer and for the national economy as well. Besides statutory actions developed by countries and liability assumed by employers and employees; scientific researches and studies also contribute prevention of work accidents.In this study, 1529 work related accidents of a leading cement company that occured during its operations within 60 countries in 4 years, have been evaluated in order to analyse work accidents at cement industry. Due to complexity and disorder of the data, artificial intelligence approach has been used instead of statistical study. Severity of a potential accident was evaluated for an employee operating at a certain location with certain characteristics and satisfactory results obtained.
