The assessment of public education centers for providing lifelong education: Yüreğir education center application

The problems in relation to the lifelong education, which are provided by thepublic education centers, are studied in this work. The general aim of the research isto bring out the role of the public education centers for providing the life longeducation during the information society process.The frame of the work is the participants of the courses, which have beenopened during the 2007 ?2008 education year at the Adana Yüreğir Public EducationCenter. A survey, which has been developed to collect the data, has been applied to the 192 participants of various courses, which are chosen as being neutral of the frame, in order to determine the role of the public education centers on the life longeducation and the analysis of the data in the SPSS program.According to the findings obtained at the end of the research, the participation in the courses and the choices for the course subjects at the Yüreğir Public Education Center show difference according to the gender, education level and income. The participants consider the adult education, the education, the learning process and the physical facilities at the Education Center as good in general manner. The participants believe that the most beneficial course subjects are indeed their study courses; and the age differences between the participants do not affect the education and training. As the ages of the participants get older the level of satisfaction from the trainings become better.
