Abstract (EN)
It is known that there is a positive relationship between the behavior of helping others and the level of happiness.There are also relationships between early maladaptive schemas and the maladaptive coping strategies with these schemas that emerge as a result of negative experiences with the individual's caregiver, and life satisfaction in adulthood. These schemas affect the individual's life satisfaction by determining both the individual's self-evaluation and his attitude in interpersonal relationships. The aim of this study is to examine the relationships between life satisfaction and variables such as altruism, maladaptive coping strategies with schemas, personality types, gender, income level, education level, whether or not to be a mental health professional, marital status. The sample of the study consists of a total of 386 individuals between the ages of 18 and 78 with internet access. Demographic Information Form, Altruism Scale, Ten-item Personality Scale, Life Satisfaction Scale and the Schema Coping Inventory were administered to the individuals. The obtained data were analyzed and hypotheses were tested. Findings showed that life satisfaction was affected by income level, education level, relationship status, personality types, altruism, and schema coping mechanisms. Another finding is that altruism is related to gender, income level, education, personality types and schema coping mechanisms. Theories and findings of previous studies related to this subject were examined and compared with the findings of this study.
