An examination of the effects of living conditions on emotional labor: The example of Göle

The concept of emotional labor is seen as "the effort of an individual working in a sector to manage, determine, and standardize their emotions to a certain extent." The concept of emotional labor was first introduced to the literature by Hochschild, who defined it as "the management of emotions to display the gestures and expressions that the organization desires, which are visible to everyone, sold for a wage, and therefore changeable in value." This study aims to examine the relationship between emotional labor and livin gconditions, focusing on natural conditions. The results of the data analysis showed an interaction between emotional labor and the living conditions where work life takes place. The analysis of qualitative data revealed that the living conditions of emotional labor workers have an impact on the dimensions of emotional labor. It was determined that the climate and nature of the living conditions of emotional labor workers are influential in their work lives. Additionally, it was found that the economic aspect of the region, the cultural values of the local people, the socialand cultural activities of the region, and even the services of the region have an impact. It was determined that regional conditions affect professional life in various dimensions. These findings can help in understanding the effects of living conditions on the dimensions of emotional labor. As a result, it was observed that emotional labor is affected by living conditions. The findings of the study indicate that the living conditions of emotional labor workers need to be considered and developed accordingly. It can be said that the study is important in terms of contributing to the literature and providing ideas for researchers in future advanced studies.
