Investigating the views of legislature toward Turkish education policy and management of Turkish education system

Legislative power is known to have authorization on the management of Turkish education system and in the establishment of educational policies. Besides globalization, the development of long-term education policies in line with modern perspective and modern philosophy structure and meeting the expectations of the society have been important for deputies with legislative power. This has been the reason for all political parties to include education, training and management policies in their codes and programs. The purpose of this research is to reveal the perceptions and thoughts of the legislative power towards management and policies regarding Turkish education system. In line with this purpose, 31 deputies determined through maximum variation sampling method participated in the study which is designed in phenomenology one of the qualitative research patterns, the semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher was used to collect the data. Content analysis is performed using MAXQDA 2020 software. Measures have been taken to ensure the reliability and validity of the research. In the findings of the research; updating education policies in areas such as vocational training and special education in Turkey, teacher training, revising employment procedures and assignment policies, rearranging training and assignment system of managers, long and short term policies should be implemented with strategic plans for determining the vision of education policy have been reached and it is revealed that the budget share increased in the last few governments' period but it is still insufficient. According to these results, suggestions were presented to researchers and practitioners.
