Abstract (EN)

The search for the meaning of life has been a fundamental and enduring concern throughout human history, and in today's complex world, this inquiry continues to deepen. Humans, unlike other living beings, possess the cognitive ability to reflect on their existence and strive to make sense of their lives. University students were specifically selected for this study, as this developmental stage represents a critical period in which individuals shape their identities, question their values, and seek purpose and direction in life. This study aims to examine the relationship between meaning in life and subjective well-being. The research was conducted with 460 students from universities in Istanbul and nearby provinces, primarily two foundation universities operating in Istanbul, and 414 students were included in the data analysis due to incomplete responses. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 25. The research presents results that partially support the idea that the meaning of life has a significant effect on the subjective well-being of university students. This study is expected to contribute to the understanding of students levels of meaning in life and subjective well-being, and to provide guidance for students themselves, as well as for their families, educational institutions, and current or potential employers, by revealing the nature of the relationship between these two variables.
