Descriptive adjectives in Yaşar KEMAL's novel "Teneke"

In this study, the descriptive adjectives in the novel "Teneke" by Yaşar Kemal, who is one of the important writers of Turkish Literature, were analysed. In the introduction part, the purpose, scope and aim of the study were discussed. In the study, the novel "Teneke" was analysed and a total of 1292 descriptive adjectives were determined. These adjectives were analysed under six main headings as perceptual, practical, structural, phrase, source language and suffixes. An evaluation was made by giving the obtained results with tables and graphics. In addition, a separate section was opened in the collocation category and a study was conducted in this area. Adjectives that are thought to be useful and reliable on its own,were examined according to the meaning-based approach in collocation.The 1292 qualifying adjectives that we analysed were detected in terms of perception as mental (768), visual (284), mental/visual (182), mental/auditory (17), auditory (17), visual/tactile (8), tactile (5), auditory/visual (5), mental/tactile (3), mental/smell (1), gustatory (1), tactile/smell (1). In terms of usage, real (835) and upper (457) usage were determined in the analysation. In the structural analysis, a sequence of phrases (417), derived (415), simple (413), compound (32), and intensifying (15) was encountered. A total of 417 data were obtained, including adjective verb phrase (176), noun phrase (60), adjective phrase (57), abbreviation phrase (54), preposition phrase (39), reduplication (31).
