Relationship between innovation and performance at yacht harbours: A research on Turkey

Today, with globalization, enterprises are spending efforts enhancing performance, to continue their existence and not to lag behind its competitors in intensity competition environment. Therefore, the enterprises use some innovation activities to improve their performance in various fields such as product, process, marketing and organization. In this context, the basic aim of the research is to examine the relationship between innovation and business performance in the yacht harbours. The relationship between innovation activities and firm performance in yacht harbours, examined under the four dimensions of Balanced Scorecard. 15 main and secondary yacht harbours, with Tourism Business and Tourism Investment Certificate from Ministry of Tourism, have been included in the study. In the research, qualitative research method was used. The data of the research has been collected by face to face interviews with senior managers of yacht harbours. The Data were analyzed by descriptive analysis technique. In the conclusion of research, it is understood that innovations activities have been applied by yacht harbours. Generally, Technological and product/service innovations have been applied under the dimension of incremental innovation in yacht harbours. In addition, it is understood that innovation activities increase the business performance via the dimensions of financial, customer, internal processes, learning and development.Keywords: Yacht Harbours, Innovation, Performance, Balanced Scorecard
