Nursing once again faces a serious shortage of nurses as experienced nursesapproach retirement and fewer individuals enter the profession. Patient safety is amajor concern in this context in which fewer nurses are available to care for patientswith much higher acuity than in the past.The aim of this study was to examine validity and reliability of Turkish form of?Nursing Work Empowerment Scale?, ?Anticipated Turnover Scale? and ?Nurses`Retention Index?. This is a methodological study. This study was conducted atUniversity Hospital with 252 nurses. Nursing Work Empowerment Scale included 19items and resulted in a mean score level of moderate, Anticipated Turnover Scale 12items and resulted in a mean score of 3.5 and Nurses` Retention Index six items and themeans response was 5.4. These scales were examined by 7 experts to verify its contentvalidity. To determine the internal consistency for these scales, Coefficient Alpha wasobtained. ?Nursing Work Empowerment Scale?, ?Anticipated Turnover Scale? and?Nurses` Retention Index? had been obtained as 0.90, 0.89 and 0.70 of the Cronbachalpha coefficients respectively.As a result it has found that scales of used in study were sufficiently valid andreliable instruments.Key World: 1- Empowerment 2- Nurse 3- Turnover 4- Retantion
