Research of the relationship between academic success motivations and the attitudes to physical education of students in regional boarding secondary schools

The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between attitudes towards physical education course and motivation of academic achievement of the students who attend boarding secondary schools. A total of 422 students, 233 female, and 189 male, who study in central regional boarding and GAYDA regional boarding secondary school have participated in the study voluntarily. The data were obtained by using the Attitude Scale of Physical Education Course in 2009 by Güçlü and Güllü and the Academic Motivation Scale developed by Vallerand et al. (1989) to the participants.Using the IBM SPSS 24.0 software, parametric tests independent t-test and one-way ANOVA have been applied to the data since normality distributions had skewness and kurtosis values(E. Jondeau, M. Rockinger (2003) Conditional volatility, skewnees, and kurtosis: exitence, persistence and comovements, Journal of Economic Dynamics & Control, 27, 1699-1737) in the range of +3 -3. As a conclusion, there is a statistically significant difference between female students' attitudes towards Physical Education Course compared to male students' attitudes towards Physical Education Course and academic motivations of male students compared to the academic motivations of female students.
