Abstract (EN)

This experiment was carried out at Ankara/Haymana Field Crops Central Research Institute (TARM) and Aplication Farm during the years of 2010 - 2011. The aim of the study was to determine the most efficient dose of gamma irradiation for the mutation breeding and in order to be varriation program of common vetch (Vicia sativa L.).In the study, morphological, biological and agricultural characteristics of M1 and M2 plants of two common vetch cultivars (Alınoğlu-2001 and Farukbey-2001) obtained by irradiation of the seeds with different doses of cobalt 60 gamma rays ( 0, 40, 60, 80, 100. 120 and 140 gy) were studied. The laboratory and field experiments were arranged in the split plot design with four replications. The results of the study showed that germination rate of the seeds, seedling height, seedling fresh weight, seedling dry weight, emergence rate, surviving rate, plant height, number of main branches per plant, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, pod length and seed yield per plant were influenced by the application of gamma irradiation. From the results of the study, it was concluded that the most efficient doses of gamma rays for the mutation breeding program of common vetch (Vicia sativa L.) could be 100-140 gray.
