Problems of the extended vocational and technical education centers and suggestions of solutions

ABSTRACT PROBLEMS OF THE EXTENDED VOCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION CENTERS AND SUGGESTIONS OF SOLUTIONS FERAH GÜÇLÜ This study researches the aims, administrational processes, vocational education studies on local and national level, approach to problems of vocational and technical education and solving suggestions of MEB Manisa Vocational Education Centers and Elginkan Foundation Vocational and Tehnical Education Centers on the level of head masters, teachers and students in a comparative way. The aim of this research is, to develop a new point of view by comparing states and private education systems and help to determine the basics of a new system by pointing on faults and deficiencies of extended vocational and technical education. In the light of this aim, 'semi-structural interview technique' used to get the opinions and suggestions of people who are in the favour of vocational and technical education. The semi-structural interview forms that are going to be applied to head masters, teachers, and students were prepared by depending on the studies of TİSK, TOBB, TES-AR and same studies in this subject and thesis studies of these organizations in administrational processes. Interviews were generally made by the appointments and always with voluntary people. The datas were recorded in the form during the interview. The ideas of the subjects are as followings: 1. The necessities of vocational education should be shared by government, private sector and social parts in economy. 2. The need of qualified technical mid-level personnel should be determined statistically in econqmy and should be monopolized. 3. Social activities should be served to students to help them for their personel improvement besides their technical trining.. 4. Some instructors who are going to be charged in the vocational chamber should take part for controlling the apprentice students in their working place for having on effective control, it is necessary to be supported with the enforce. IX5. The teachers who take part in vocational education, should be enable to be under training in the workplaces to catch the developments in their area. 6. Attendances of the students to the training centers should be carefully controlled and their training must be increased to 2 days in a week,and the daily subjects should be decreased by 10 lessons. 7. The duty areas of the vocational training institutions should be re-obtained and local vocational projects must be developed by a new system which increases the coordination Key words: Vocational and Technical Educational, Apprentice Student, Vocational Education Programme.
