Use of web2.0 tools in improving writing skills

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to improve secondary school 7th grade students' writing skills by integrating Turkish language course with Web 2.0 tools. To attain this goal, in line with the model, a Web 2.0 tool is selected and the students are asked to do comic strip writing activity. In this writing study, the students form fantastic text, informative text, idioms and proverbs types by integrating with the learning outcomes of Turkish course; the effect of the Web. 2.0 tools has been observed in terms of achieving these outcomes. The action research is a design used in the studies on the improvement of education system for the students. Designed with the action research of the qualitative research methods, the present study is carried out by utilising students' technology usage and data production ease of use and practicality in and out of the school lives. By advancing students' creative thinking skills, it is aimed at improving their success in learning, practicing, producing a product by means of the Web 2.0 tool. The study group of the research consists of a teacher and 24 students. The criterion sampling technique of the purposive sampling techniques is used in this study. The criteria determined by considering the objectives of the research and the researcher's expectations are as follows: the classes in which the researcher lectures as a Turkish teacher, the students who mainly have problems in writing and writingship skills in these classes and the students who are allowed to participate in this study by their parents. The data collection tools are semi-structured interview form, student journal, students' portfolios, and teacher observation form in this study. The collected data are analysed and interpreted through both descriptive and content analysis techniques. The results of the study reveal that the Turkish course should be integrated with Web 2.0 tools. According to the findings obtained from the data tools, it has been observed that the Web 2.0 tools creates a productive education procedure in terms of making the students feel good, and enabling the training process to be easily followed by the teachers.
