Abstract (EN)
On September 7, 1946, the first devaluation of the Republic of Turkey was carried out. This change on the Turkish currency is one of the important turning points in the history of Turkish economy. İn addition to the Dynamics existing in domestic politics, the new World order led by the United States of America after the Second World War also has effects on the devaluation decision. Among the desired results with the devaluation decision; İn response to the loss of Turkish currency against foreign currency, the export of Turkish products by making imported products more expensive, and thus the export rates exceeded the imports. Although this adjusment made on Money was met with positive reactions throughout the country, situations such as expensiveness, shortage of products, and black market continued to increase, as a result of which negative reactions were faced by the public and intellectual groups, especially by the media. The Yedi Eylül Decisions were put forward with the aim of ensuring the rapid liberalization of Turkey in international trade, but generally ended in failure due to the inadequacy of the economic and political infastructure.
