ABSTRACT AN INVESTIGATION ON THE JOURNAL OF YEDİTEPE (1-196 Issues) Hülya DARAN DEVECİ Master Thesis, Turkish Language and Literature Department Supervisor: Assc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa APAYDIN September 2004, 288 pages The contributions of the history of magazine publishing in the Republic era to Turkish literature have not been investigated adequently. However, this point is crucially important to understand contemporary literature circles. Speciffically, especially between 1950-1960, the journal of Yeditepe guided controversies in literature circles. The present study aims to brighten up the devolepments and changes in the literature of this period. This thesis tries to show the importance of the journal of Yeditepe in history of Turkish magazine publishing. In the present study, the importance of Yeditepe within the literature circles is underlined by showing the interrelations between political/social conditions and art and literature circles of this epoch. For this purpose, the journal is analyzed both statistically and by focusing on its content. A detailed bibliograpy is given at the end of the thesis. By this way, it is aimed for reader to easily reach the sources of the relevant productions and work of arts florished within this period. Lastly, the identity and difference of the journal of Yeditepe, which can be defined as the openness to innovations and avagard works, are tried to put forward by taking the attention to both its form and content characteristics.
