Abstract (EN)
This study aims to develop a reliable, effective and productive Online Examination Medium to carry out and assess exams, which normally take too much time of both individuals and institutions, and also to determine the effects of web-based exams and classroom-based ones on students? academic success and their attitudes towards computer. An updatable databased online examination system, which has an easy to use interface with a multi-media support and which can also save the information of students, courses, exams and grades in a secure way, was developed in order to determine the differences between online exams and the paper-based ones and also to give exams on both internet and on a secure network. The effect of the designed online examination medium on the students? academic success and their attitudes towards computer within the course of Computer Office Programs was determined. The population of the study comprised totally 70 students taking the course of Computer Office Programs in two different classes within the spring term of 2010-2011 academic year at Ahi Evran University, Vocational School, Business Administration Department. ?Research design with pretest ?posttest control group? was used in the study. Data was collected through multiple-choice Academic Success Test and Computer Attitude Scale. As the results of the statistical analyses conducted on the data collected, it was seen that both academic success of the groups towards computer course and their attitudes towards computer were similar before the application, that they got higher grades in the online examination with compared to the ones they got in traditional paper-based exam and also that online exam application did not contribute to the students? attitudes towards computer when compared with the traditional teaching.
