Recruiting methods of new religious movements

New religious movements (NRMs), especially after the 1960s, is an emerging phenomenon that was widespread in a short time. Rapidly gaining new members and establishing absolute authority on the life of new members is subject to considerable debate for the researchers. From the moment they emerged, they have been recognized and attracted public and media attention by negative issues such as fraud, sexual abuse, murder and mass suicide. Over time, it has been claimed that the NRMs have brought people by manipulating their factions using brainwashing techniques and even based on the the complaints of the parents of the children that are in these movements, the NRMs were sued and caused emerging anticult movements. As a result of all these developments it has become important to investigate how NRMs recruiting new members and keeping them in the movements. From this point forth, it has attempted to identify through the basic methods applied by NRMs in this study by using examples. Key Words: New Religious Movements, missionary, recruitment,brainwashing.
