The effect of the newly developed home bleaching gelon tooth color and mineral alteration

Abstract (EN)

Our study aims to compare the newly developed two experimental bleaching gels containing 16% KP and 6% HP with FGM Whiteness Perfect (16% CP) and BioWhiten ProHome (6% HP) at-home bleaching systems on the mineral and color alterations. Ninety-six maxillary central teeth that were extracted for periodontal reasons without defects, cracks, or caries were included. All samples were standardized with a cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) for enamel-dentin thickness. Then, they divided into 2 for color determination (n=48) and mineral change (n=48) evaluation. Then these 2 groups were divided into 4 subgroups according to the bleaching agent to be applied (n=12). The mineral alteration was analyzed with the SEM-EDX (SEM, Zeiss Gemini) device before the bleaching treatments were applied to the teeth, at the end of the applications, and 2 weeks after the applications were completed. Color measurement was performed with a spectrophotometer device (VITA EasyShade, Zahnfabrik) before the bleaching application, during bleaching on the 7th day, 24 hours, and 14 days after application. Color change values were calculated with the CIEDE2000 formula. Pair t tests-Wilcoxon and ANOVA-Kruskal Wallis were used for statistical analysis. p < 0.05 was significant. While effective bleaching was achieved in all groups in the study, no statistically significant difference was found between all groups in terms of color change (p>0.05). There was a statistically significant difference between all groups in terms of mineral change (p<0.05). When the results were evaluated with regard to color and mineral change, the most ideal bleaching agent was found to be ECP (Group 1).
