The views of Filibeli Ahmet Hilmi, one of the representatives of the new scientific and theological period, on materialism

The thesis consists of an Introduction and Three Chapters. In the introduction, the information about the purpose, importance, limitation, method, literature and presentation of the research was given. In the first part, information about the New Scientific and Theological Period was given without going into details. The representatives and works of the period were mentioned by giving details about the need and innovations for the New Scientific and Theological Period. The second part contains information about materialism. The definition of materialism has been introduced and its historical representatives and views have been explained. The introduction of materialism to Turkey and the names who were active in this process are included with their works. In addition, the materialist views of the representatives of materialism in Turkey are evaluated in this chapter . In the third chapter, Şehbenderzâde Filibeli Ahmed Hilmi's life, works and his views on materialism, which is the subject of our thesis, are mentioned. Ahmed Hilmi's criticism on the anti-Islamic views of materialism, which he strengthened with his versatile and deep knowledge, was discussed with reference to his work "Huzûr-u Akl ü Fende Mâddiyyûn Meslek-i Dalalet". In the last chapter , our study has been completed with general evaluations.
