Abstract (EN)
Aim: Within the scope of this thesis, synthesis of metal complexes with a Schiff base ligand, structural characterization and biological activity studies in human colon cancer cell line (HT-29), breast cancer cell line (MCF-7) and lung cancer (A549) cell lines are carried out. Material and Method: Elemental, spectroscopic and thermal analysis techniques were used in the structural characterization of the synthesized compounds and biological activity studies were carried out by the MTT method. Results: A Schiff base ligand was synthesized from the reaction of 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde, a salicylaldehyde derivative, with 2-amino-4-chlorophenol, and metal complexes were synthesized from the reaction of this ligand with metal acetates under appropriate conditions. The structures of the compounds were elucidated using instrumental analysis methods and biological activity studies were carried out. Conclusion: After the synthesis of Schiff base ligand and metal complexes, structural characterization studies were performed. Cell culture studies were performed on A549, HT-29 and MCF-7 cell lines and it was observed that the complexes formed by the ligand with transition metals had a much stronger cytotoxic effect against cells than the ligand formed alone. These results also determined that if the Schiff base ligand and metal complexes contain metals biologically, their potential to be used as anticancer agents should be supported by in vivo studies. 2025, 105 Pages Keywords: Aminophenol, Antiproliferative Activity, Ligand, Metal Complex, Schiff Base
