Abstract (EN)

Natural products are always the biggest source of inspiration for scientists working in the fields of chemistry, biology and medicine. Generally, the complex treatment mechanisms of natural products have not often not fully understood. Therefore, the core structures of active molecules attract the attention of scientists. Although many studies have been conducted on the discovery of thiosemicabazide derivatives in the literature, no research has been found on derivatives with attached carvacrol. It seems that there is a need for the synthesis of new derivatives containing two molecular structures with such a wide biological effect capacity. Ethylphenoxy acetate derivative was obtained from carvacrol, a natural essential oil. The ester group in this compound was converted to hydrazide by replacing it with hydrazine, and the obtained acetohydrazide derivative compound was reacted with different isothiocyanate derivatives. The selected aryl thioisocyanates were determined from derivatives that are more common in the literature and carry electron donating and withdrawing groups at different positions. It has been studied to combine the therapeutic effect of carvacrol, a natural product that has been used for therapeutic purposes since ancient times, together with the biological effects arising from thiosemicarbazide derivatives, on one molecule. As a result, a new thiosemicarbazide derivative series has been added to the literature.
