SUMMARY Master Thesis THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC PROBLEMS NEW CITIZENS MEET FACE TO FACE DURATION ADAPTATION TO THE CHANGES OCCURING IN THEIR CONSUMPTION HABITS Ebru ÖZGÜR Fırat University The Institute of Social Sciences Sociology of Main Discipline 2003, Page 70 That the migration and the migrants occuring from our rural regions to our cities become one each person living in the city, namely become urbanized, by preparing and applying some conditions the urban surrounding require is regarded as one of the problems not only our big cities but also all our socities. It is understood that the domestic migration which have been increasing fast from our rural regions to our cities since 1950 is an unbalance development amogs basic needs such as work, houses, roads, water, electricity etc. Together population increase. The sources putting forward some economic factors in apperance are the cause of migration give impressions that the people migrating to the cities are the people in the lowest level of the rural regions where they come in social-economic way and don't find a way apart from migrating to the cities by becoming un employed because of the mechanization in agriculture. From the going of view of the life ways, customs and traditions, cultures, labour fields, the division of labours of the villages and cities are different each other. It is obuious that the people migrating from the village to the city leave their old behaviour and habits, customs and traditions in the place where mey came.XI Duration the domestic migration, their cultures come to the cities with them, too. It is observed that the migrants occurs changes about their incomes in the cities, the jobs they work, their settlement forms and houses together the migration to the city. In addition to all these changes, together the migration to the city, the forms of new consumption have been adjusted and have be begun taking their own model in the behaviour they show in the shopping. The message being wanted to be given is this: "We are city dweller from now on". But is it really? In this study, we tried to fix the deree and the way in the consumption habit of the people migrating from the rural region.
