Synthesis of new chiral 1,3-thiazolidine derivatives and the evaluation of biological activities

In this study, new thirty two chiral thioureas and 1,3-thiazolidine derivatives were synthesized using general synthesis methods. In the first part of our study, the new chiral thiourea derivatives [1-16] were obtained by the reaction of 1-naphthylisothiocyanate, which used as the starting material, with different chiral amines. In the second part, the thioureas [1-16] were reacted with oxalyl chloride to obtain 1,3-thiazolidine-4,5-dione derivatives [17-32]. The purities of the products were controlled by TLC and their structures elucidated using FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and elemental analysis methods. The biological activities of synthesized compounds [1-32] have been screened as antioxidant activities (β-carotene linoleic acid, DPPH, ABTS and CUPRAC) and enzyme inhibition activities (AChE, BChE, tyrosinase and urease). According to the results obtained, nitro derivative (S) isomers compound 14 and cyclic derivative 30 showed the highest activity in all assays.
