Abstract (EN)

New media technologies have differentiated the way television content is presented to the audience. Thus, it plays a fundamental role in the restructuring of television broadcasting by transforming the television viewing practices of the audience. The convergence in television broadcasting with the development of new media technologies has transformed the way the content is distributed to the audience, and it has become more and more important for broadcasters to adapt to the new environment in order to maintain their audience ratios and to survive in the competitive relations that dominate the sector. The reflections of this transformation experienced in the field of television broadcasting have also been evident in Turkey in recent years. The transformation of television broadcasting on the basis of new media technologies, the differentiation of the way the content is presented, and the change in the interaction styles of broadcasters with the audience in this context, marked the beginning of a new era and competitive relations for the sector. In this context, a new understanding of broadcasting, which emphasizes the fact that the way of watching television of the users/viewers, transcends the environment and becomes independent of time and space, is brought to the fore. In addition, thanks to the audience practices transformed by new media technologies, it is emphasized that users/viewers become active participants. On the basis of these emphases, the activities in the new media channels, where the interaction with the audience is tried to be developed, is more fundamentally caried in terms of competition relations in the sector. Television content is presented to users/viewers not only through traditional broadcast channels, but also through corporate websites created by broadcasters, social media and video sharing sites, or online video viewing platforms developed by media organizations themselves. This study mainly focuses on how the presentation forms of television content are transformed on the basis of new media technologies, how this transformation shapes the interaction with the audience and the meaning of these developments in terms of television broadcasting. In this context, six traditional television channels and six popular TV series broadcast on these channels are analyzed in terms of presentation or transmission to the audience through new media platforms. By using the content analysis method, the interaction forms of the selected channels and series with the audience through new media platforms were examined. As a result, it has been seen that traditional television broadcasters care about activities that will enable users / viewers to easily access television content through new media technologies. It has been observed that broadcasters are in an effort to reach users/viewers effectively through their corporate websites, social media and video sharing sites, or online video viewing platforms they have developed. It has been observed that new media channels, which offer wider opportunities to the audience in terms of commenting on the content, sharing, and communicating their expectations and wishes, increase the interaction with the audience.
