Appearance of citizen journalism in the new media: Yesil gazete example in the context of environmental journalism

With the emergence of the Internet, new internet technologies have entered our lives. Until that day, communication was one way, new media tools came together with the internet and they created the concept of "new media". And this way, with new media the interactive medium appeared. Along with new media; information generation, sharing and information storage are facilitated, and interaction between the source and the receiver can be achieved. The possibility of sharing visual and audio products gradually on different platforms has been created. These possibilities constitute the foundation of internet journalism and new forms of news production and sharing have come to the agenda. Along with these developments on the Internet and in the new media, the search for alternative media has also begun, due to the monopolization of the media and the decrease in public confidence in the traditional media. As a result of the search, the concept of "Citizen Journalism", a new journalism practice, was born. Citizen journalism allows many people from many different social, political and cultural perspectives to voice their voice and it has emerged as a type of journalism that announces environmental news. Citizen journalism is a social, political and cultural way that allows many people to voice their voice. Also, it has emerged as a kind of journalism that is the voices of the people with a critical view towards institutions and actions that harm the environment. In this study; new media, the concept of the internet as a new medium of media, internet journalism developing in new media, the concept of citizen journalism and environmental journalism and the Yeşil Gazete where environmental journalism news is included in the context of citizen journalism has been examined.
