Abstract (EN)

The concept of social memory, which is studied in different methods and forms in different disciplines such as history, sociology and psychology, is also important for journalism and media practices. Developing internet technologies and new media tools hold an important place in today's main news practices due to the rapid production of content, easy access to news and information, an interactive communication process with reader participation, deep learning and awareness. For this reason, the role of 140journos' documentary series concerning the agenda in creating the collective memory has been examined in this study. The study reviews the impact of 140journos' year-end videos on creating the collective memory, gives a general point of view to the subject matter and aims to arouse interest in the topic. In addition to the semi-structured in-depth interview with Engin Önder, one of the founders of 140journos which is a new media platform, the content analysis of four end-of-year videos podcasted between 2016 and 2019 is done. Based on 140journos, which defines itself as a "counter-media movement and history writer", it has been concluded that the new media has a mission to be free, equal and the voice of every individual in the society during the process of creating collective memory.
