The effect of new generation mathematics questions on secondary school 8th grade students' attitudes to mathematics course

The aim of this study is to examine the attitudes of secondary school 8th grade students towards new generation mathematics questions and to determine how these questions affect students' approaches to mathematics lessons. In addition, it is thought that the results of the research will shed light on teachers and authors who prepare a new generation of mathematics questions. Three 8th grade students were selected from four schools and their success in mathematics was considered in the selection of these students. Mathematics achievements were selected as low-intermediate and high-level, according to their grades and performance in lessons, with the help of mathematics teachers who teach students. After the elections, the permission of the parents and the student's willingness to work were taken into consideration. After the student selection, the interview questions prepared by the researchers with the help of the literature were presented to the students through interviews. The answers were collected both by taking notes and by voice recording, and after being checked for content, they were stored electronically. In this study, the duration of which was planned to be approximately 1 year, the names of the students were kept confidential, and codes were used in the thesis. The data of the research consisted of interviews. The data collected for each student was analyzed and transferred to a word file. Then, content analysis was performed in the analysis of the data. At the end of the research, students' approaches to new generation mathematics questions were determined and solutions for what teachers and book authors could do at this point were determined against each approach.
