The citizenship education in the new social science course schecule of 4th and 5th classes

In this thesis, it is aimed to determine the levels of gains of students and teachers of 4th and 5th classes about the Citizenship and Human Rights Lesson into the new Social Science curriculum in the publishing house of National Education Ministry with other private publishing-houses (Sürat,A), based on primary school first step 4th and 5th classes.In thesis thesis, based on description method, firstly scanning of the curriculum and related lesson books were examined in a detailed way.After that, the students and teachers of primary school first step 4th and 5th classes are applied surveys about the gains of the Citizenship and Human Rights Lesson.The universe of the research the is students who attends the 4th and 5th closes of primary school, and their teachers and Social Science?s lesson books in Ankara in 2006 ? 2007. This research the publishing houses of includes, National Education Ministry, Sürat, A, 2 primary schools, 200 students of 4th and 5th classes and 15 teachers.According to the result of this thesis, the Social Science books of 4th and 5th classes (the publishing houses of National Education Ministry, Sürat and A) give sufficient place to the gains of Citizenship and Human Rights Lessons. The primary school students of the 4th and 5th classes highly get the related gains. The teachers of the lessons are found to be interested in these gains during their course time.
