Abstract (EN)
Earthquake, which is one of the natural disasters that caused serious loss of life and property throughout the history of humanity, is of critical importance in our country. Many earthquake regulations have been prepared and put into effect in order to prevent loss of life and property that may occur in our country, which is located in the earthquake zone. The Turkey Building Earthquake Regulation 2018 (TBDY-2018), which entered into force on 1 January 2019, was the last regulation. TBDY regulation came into force as a result of the fact that the Regulation on Buildings to be Constructed in Earthquake Zones (DBYBHY-2007) was insufficient in terms of design and performance of the buildings designed against earthquakes. In line with technological advances and increasing needs, TBDY offers more realistic modellable structures and new approaches. Within the scope of the current study, it is aimed to evaluate a newly designed reinforced concrete structure by comparing it with TBDY and DBYBHY. For this purpose, a reinforced concrete structure was designed with the help of IdeCAD software and the similarities and differences of the two regulations were discussed. As a result, it has been determined that TBDY offers a more reliable and realistic approach.
