Synthesis and characterizasyon of new type asymmetric schiff bases and their transition metal complexes

In this study, precursors were synthesized by mono condensation reaction of 2-aminobenzylamine with salicylaldehyde (1) and 4-hydroxysalicylaldehyde (2). Then tetradentade asymmetric Schiff base ligands prepared by condensation of (1) and (2) with 3-methoxysalicylaldehyde and salicylaldehyde. The structure of ligands have been investigated by analytical and spectroscopic methods Schiff base complexes with nickel(II), copper(II) and cobalt(II) have been prepared and characterized by magnetic susceptibility, elemental analyses, FT-IR, UV-Vis. and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). The results suggested that the Schiff bases are coordinated to the metal ions through the phenolic oxygens and azomethine nitrogen to give mononuclear complexes. According to obtained results it was found that experimental and therotical results are in agreement with each other.
