Tetrapyrrolitic macrocyclic ring systems are porphyrins, tetraazaporphyrins, phythalocyaninesand porphyrazines. These compounds have been used electrophotography, optical data,photodynamic therapy of tumors, liquid crystals, pigments and dyes. Porphyrazines have beenof considerable interest to spectroscopist and theoriticians for their high symmetrical, planarstructure and electron delocalisation.In the present work our aim has been prepared to different peripheral porphyrazines whichinclude eight hepthyl groups. Peripherally-functionalized porphyrazines have the potential toexhibit novel optical, magnetic and electronic properties.1,2-bis-(hepthylthio)maleonitrile has been obtained from the reaction of disodiumsalt,bromoheptane and acetone at 21 hours.MgPz has been synthesized through thecyclotetramerization reaction of magnesium and n-butanol withbis(hepthylthio)maleonitrile.The metal free porphyrazine derivative was obtained by itstreatment with trifluroacetic acid and further reaction of this product with cobalt(II) acetate,copper(II) acetate and zinc(II) acetate led to the metal porphyrazine (MPz, M=Co,Cu andZn).These new compounds have been investigated and characterized by UV, FT-IR and 1HNMR analysis methods.Keyword : porphyrazine, 1,2-bis-(hepthylthio)maleonitrile
