A survey upon the new horizons review

Within our thesis called ?A survey upon The New Horizons Review?,we strieved for evaluating the advanture of Ufuklar and Yeni Ufuklarperiodicals.Ufuklar, Review started to be published, as a prolongation ofYücel periodical, under the supervision and control of Orhan Burian andVedat Günyol in February 1952. Orhan Burian died after 14 numbersreleased. Undertaking whole responsibility of the review, Vedat Günyol,addind a ?new? word the beginning of the topic, kept on publishing theperiodical. The review which had been published under the name of ?TheNew Horizons (Yeni Ufuklar)? withdrawn by the number 275.Yeni Ufuklar, setout as ?Monthly Art-Opinion Review? in 1952, desired to be carried on as?Criticism-Essay Periodical? after 1960 but in a short time had to turn back toits former type.During its publication life nearly a quarter of a century, The NewHorizons opened its pages to numerous poets and authors and extended ourthought horizon by its articles written from our literary life to societial life.Besides, supporting newly-growing poets and authors, pioneered formationof upcoming literary mediums too. Yeni Ufuklar, became a review whichturned its destination to the West all the time. Scouting the developments inthe West closely, Orhan Burian and Vedat Günyol were inflicted by?humanism? trend that set the medium for Renaissance in the West andconstituting the base of West civilisation; and aimed at bringing Humanisminto Turkey.Saying ?Existentialism is humanism?, Jean Paul Sartre becamethe mostly-mentioned philosopher in the 20. century by both the newapproach he brought on Humanism and the ?existence? consept he broughtinto the literature. The New Yeni Ufuklar, was effected by Existentialismwhich is dwelling on ?Existence comes before the Core? basis.533A squad that sets out Humanism will incline Ancient Greek and Latinresources. This inclination is to bring a new History insight beside it.Halikarnas Balikcisi, Azra Erhat, Sabahattin Eyuboglu and Cedat Gunyol arethe pioneers of the trend called Mavi Anadolu Hareketi, defending AncientGreek and Latin civilisation which are composing the base of the Westcivilisation that we are trying to be involved in actually inflicted from Anatolianculture and henceforth Anatolian people are the part of West civilisationconsidering the cultural heritage. The New Yeni Ufuklar became a periodicalas a spokesman of this trend called Mavi Anadolu Hareketi.The Republic whose bases are formed by Humanism, sought neweducation models to grow its own people. This new formation, alleging thatpeople mostly live in village and development should be initially started byeducating people, established Village Institutes. Village Institutes becamefoundations where Humanism and Ancient Greek and Latin culture settingout Anatolian culture and thus opening its Gates to the West. Yeni Ufuklar,supported both Village Institutions and its spirit to the end.Whether theresponsibility that is given to people by Existentialists or facing their owntruths the people who were grown at Village Civilisations, beyond this, ourpeople suffering the two World Wars had to face their own truths. YeniUfuklar got its share from the new trend called Toplumsal Gerçekçilik.Succintly Yeni Ufuklar, took its place within our literature history as aliterature and thought review, defending free thought, believing in theresponsibility to it era and people and being published in this way.
