Mineral zonation and distribution of mineralization around granitoid intrusions in Yenice area (Çanakkale)

Abstract (EN)

Cenozoic calc-alkaline magmatism associated with collisional and post-collisional tectonism is genetically related to various types of mineralization in and around the intrusions in the northeast of Yenice. Zircon dating of granites yields ages ranging between 25.8±1.6 Ma and 27.4±1.8 Ma. These ages are consistent with molybdenite ages of 25.39±0.10 Ma and 25.76±0.11 Ma, which constrain the timing of the Soğucak and Sofular porphyry mineralization, respectively. Geochemical and microprobe analyses of plutons show a magnesian, calc-alkalic, metaluminous and I-type character. The strontium-neodymium isotopic compositions show a very narrow range and indicate that plutons were generated from the same source. Moreover, the strontium-neodymium isotope results indicate that intrusions were generated by magmatic assimilation and fractional crystallization and formed during large-scale lithospheric thinning during the Late Oligocene. The iron isotope values reflect the complex interplay between redox, Rayleigh and kinetic effects. The copper isotope values of chalcopyrite from the Arapuçandere deposit tend to progressively increase through the surface, which creates a vector from the proximal to distal portions of magmatic-hydrothermal environment. The sulfides have a relatively narrow range of sulfur isotope values that range between -4.0 and 3.9 ‰ and mostly cluster around 0 ‰, indicating sulfur is mainly derived from a magmatic source. All the lead isotope data fall within the fields defined by Oligocene-Miocene magmatic rocks. This observation supports the hypothesis that the metals and sulfur contained within all the various styles of mineralization were derived entirely from these granitoids. Fluid inclusion integrated oxygen-hydrogen isotope studies reveal that Arapuçandere mineralization was formed as a result of multi-stage boiling events, and suggest a mixed character of ore-forming fluids between magmatic and meteoric water.
