Hydrogeochemical and hydrogeological investigation of the Yenicekent Gölemezli geothermal field

Abstract (EN)

This study contains hdyrogeological, hydrogeochemical and isotopic investigations in Denizli Yenicekent Golemezli geothermal field. While the town- Yenicekent is located on the Yenice Horst, in the northwest of Gediz Graben, the town Gölemezli is located in the intersection of the Büyük Menderes and Çürüksu grabens. In the study area there are, from bottom to top, Paleozoic Menderes Massive metamorfics, and Neogene Kızılburun, Sazak, Kolonkaya and formations. Alluvium and travertine cover all the units.Eight cold water samples were taken from five different cold water source in study area and also in total twenty hot water samples were taken from nine different hot water sources and cation and anion analysis were done. Waters are generally in the type of Na-Ca- HCO3-SO4 and the hardness of CO3 more than fifty percentage or mixture waters. When the examined hot waters were classified according to the conductivity, it was seen that they were classified as `doubtful and unsuitable for irrigation?, but the cold waters were classified as `usable for irrigation?. Geothermal aquifer waters in the study area have been plotted in to the immature fields on the combining geothermometer diagrams of Giggenbach. Combining result of the geothermometer applications and available well deep temperatures show that reservoir temperatures are between 58oC to 293oC.Mineral saturation graphs which show the minerals behaviour in different temperatures suggest that aragonite, calcite and dolomite have tendency to precipitate in water but amorphous silica doesn?t show such a tendency.
