Abstract (EN)

Today, the rise in energy demand due to economical and technological developments and the damage given to the environment and state economy as a result of providing this energy from wrong resources increase day by day. Providing energy from renewable sources without giving harm to environment appears as a solution to this problem.This study, which aims at introducing ecological design criteria to ensure negative effects of architectural structures on environment and solution offers in terms of building components, consists of five parts.In the first part, the problem is defined and the purpose and method of the study is determined.The second part of the study is about energy and environmental problems and fossil energy resources and its devastating effects on environment. The term of renewable energy resources emerging as a solution to solve these problems is explained and these energy types are classified thereafter. It also focuses on the concept of energy efficient building, the development process of which is described in detail.In the third part of the study, the utilization systems of renewable energy resources in buildings are explained and applications on building components and effect of technological developments on these systems are discussed.In the fourth part, in the view of criteria provided in the third part, use of renewable energy resources as building components in the energy efficient buildings built within the last 10-15 years is examined in detail. All the casestudies examined are gathered together and explicated thereafter.In the final part, the results obtained are assessed.
