Abstract (EN)
The fact that fossil resources will soonreach to a level at which they cannot meet the needs directs people to renewable energy sources in today's word in which fossil resources are being used up gradually. Each country determines alternative policies in their own way and puts them into practice. Handing down renewable energy sources that gain so much importance nowadays to the next generations early and fast makes it inevitable to provide effective education and to form a larger field of study for teaching renewable energy sources. İt is quite important for science education and the future of our country to bring up students who are closely acquainted with the global renewable energy sources, mindful of the environment, and conscious. This study is for understanding how effective a newly developed wind türbine is to teach renewable energy sources in Science and Technology class of the 8th grade. A statistical study was conducted by comparing the pre-test and post-test results of the acedemic success test developed by the researcher with the students' gender, school, and grade point averages in Science class during the semester. The study was applied to eight classes in four schools, which are district village school, central village school, central school and private school, in 2013-2014 Academic year. Academic success test was applied to 8 classes with the available curriculum, and the same test was applied again after the wind turbine material was integrated into the lesson environment. To search the effect of different instructions in all the classes, Renewable Energy Sources Academic Success Test (RESAST) was used. This study lasted for 6 weeks with pre-test and post-test practices for one week each and instruction for 4 weeks. The numeric data acquired were analyzed in SPSS. In the statistical assessment, independent sample test for gender-based assessment, dependent sample test for pre-test and post-test comparison, ANOVA for school-based assessment were conducted, and TUKEY-HSD test was used for paired comparisons. All the results were evaluated in % 95 confidence interval. Keywords: Renewable energy sources, academic success test, available curriculum programme
