Abstract (EN)

There is a need to identify possible deficiencies of newly prepared course books and to work on improving the usefulness of the book by eliminating these deficiencies. The aim of this research using case study is to develop a proposal for the solution of the 9th grade physics course book, which was reorganized in 2013, in the directions of the teachers who teach this course and to overcome the deficiencies that may arise. For this purpose, this study was carried out with five volunteer teachers two from public Anatolian High Schools and three from Private Science and Anatolian High Schools in Adana. Three lesson hours of each teacher were observed in may. Thus, the total of 15 lesson hours were observed. Then, teachers' opinions were taken with semi-structured interviews as the course season was over in june. According to the findings, the teachers did not give importance to the skill gains, the activities were not performed due to especially the lack of time. It has been determined that the number of solved examples in the course book and the number of questions behind the unit are insufficient. Moreover it has also been determined that the rate of the book usage has decreased in the classrooms which had high-achieving students to the point where it has never been used, and alternative books have been used instead. Therefore, in order to be able to do the activities, increasing the number of class hours for physics and preparation of an alternative course book with increased difficulty level and number of questions for high-achieving student groups were proposed.
