Value education in teacher subjected short stories in Turkish short story of modernization period

In this study, it has been focused on teacher types in short stories. It has been considered the works which are regarded as short story type on the basis of evolution line of modernization period from Tanzimat to today. It has been determined educational values which are desired to be given on behalf of teachers in these stories by authors. According to that determining, it has been tried to reach the results about the changes seen in teacher types of these short stories in the said period and the mutual interaction between the concepts of the society andthe teacher.It has been looked for answers about those main questions: ?What is the position of the teacher in the modern period of our short stories? Which values have been loaded and which roles have been given to it??. As based on these answers, it has been aimed to put forward different and new thoughts on the dimension, quality and restraints of the link between the education, the society and the teacher.Due to the fact that time period has been hold on widely, it has been concentrated on anthologies and collective short story books in short story survey. 330 short stories stated as sample of the study have been randomly selected from among 500 short stories which have theme of the teacher. In the determining of values in these stories, the values that are desired to be earned by education program of National Education Ministry has been taken as criteria. The prompts in these stories about language teaching and language consciousness have been additionally stated.It has been made a systematical inventory of the indications acquired by adding tables and graphics. Besides, the said tools have simplified to reach a right result by evaluating the indications on a scientific base.The results, support the idea of that the teacher has a brigde role in transference of values and providing the continuity of cultural elements, have been acquired. In addition to this, they have been seen that respectable position and leading role of the teacher in our social structure were focused and that the authors utilized from the teachers on transference of values. In parallel with varying conditions, they have been made some updates in the values. They have been acquired some results directed to using of Turkish language, evolution of short story genre and the relationship of the value, the society and the teacher.Key Words: Value education, Turkish language education, Turkish literature, teacher, short story.
