Mining has contributed to the economic welfare of countries through the development of technology throughout history. Mining is one of the production areas that meet the raw material needs together with agriculture and it is a sector where special security measures and special training should be taken due to the risks it contains. When the accidents occurring in the process from the discovery of coal to the present day are examined; Although the number of accidents has decreased in world countries, this situation has not yet been reflected in the records of our country's statistics. The most common accidents in mines are; dent, grizu explosion, fall from height and toxic gases. Not only in our country's history, but also in developed countries, the major accidents in their history have led to changes in government policies. The emergence of the concept of occupational health and safety emerged in order to eliminate the difficulties experienced by the working class and to reduce the loss of lives. Research; Kozlu institutions with 302 underground mine workers in the Zonguldak basin between January 2019 and March 2019. Data were collected by the researcher using a questionnaire including demographic information, first aid and safety information in their fields. Data IBM SPSS Statistics 22 (IBM SPSS, Turkey) program, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Student's t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were analyzed using the tests. Since the answers were two options: right and wrong, Kuder Richerdson-20 coefficient was used instead of Cronbach Alfa. Kuder-Richerdson 20 reliability coefficient was used to evaluate the reliability of the questionnaire. Significance was evaluated at p <0.05. In the Study; detected informations are: The average age of mine workers ranged from 24 to 58 years, with an average of 37.09 ± 4.35 years, 34.4% (n = 104) and 92.4% (n = 279) of high school graduates were married. All mine workers who participated in the study were men. It was found that 79.8% of the participants had received first aid training before. It was found that the percentages of mine workers' responding correctly of survival and first aid knowledge level questions during the disaster ranged between 35.71 and 92.86. In general, the average percentage of responding correctly to questions including first aid and safety information in their respective areas was over 50%. The percentages of survivors who had previous occupational accidents (62,36 ± 7,11) and responding correctly to first aid knowledge level were found to be statistically significantly higher than those who had no previous occupational accident (60,69 ± 8,05).(p = 0.048; p <0.05). According to the findings obtained from the research; Some of the informations are obtained that more than half of the workers who participated in the study had an occupational accident and more than 40% misunderstood the heart massage and artificial respiration, which is the most important step of first aid, and In the case of occupational safety questions, most workers are dominant with the issue. When all these data were evaluated, it was concluded that mine workers' first aid information should been updated and these trainings should been repeated in certain periods
