Design problems and suggestions of the interface used in internet journalism of the local press: Sample of Elazig

Today's technology has changed the reading habits of the masses, the balance between language-thought and socio-cultural practices in transferring ideas, and cultural codes. In such an environment, when readers perceive newspapers as a mass of text, the possibilities of constant updating of information become demanded, and the concept of idea journalism and traditional newspaper is also changing. Although the design of Internet newspapers is ineffective according to newspaper design with many years of experience, design trends end in the debate "will the newspaper become a future." Traditional newspapers have taken on individuality and have renewed their designs to strengthen their bonds with the reader. With the development of technology, there have been great changes in the field of journalism. Today, all national newspapers and most local newspapers have internet sites. When the homepages used in internet journalism is examined, some design problems are puzzling. The purpose of this thesis is to examine these problems and present solutions to the mistakes made. Descriptive research and content analysis are used in this study. For this purpose, home page designs of 5 internet news sites published in Elazığ were examined and technical analyses were conducted. The publications of these internet news sites were followed and the images were taken. Local press, internet journalism and WEB design concepts were investigated and how the elements used in WEB design should be applied in terms of news sites were evaluated in the context of technical and aesthetic theories.
