Abstract (EN)

One of the most important topics in communication science that has been studied from past to present is reliability. While research in the field of credibility has previously focused generally on source credibility in the persuasive communication process, more recent literature has examined changes in perceptions of trustworthiness attributed to different media channels. In other words, the reliability of media and news constantly attracts the attention of scholars and is the subject of research on different aspects of reliability. In this context, the opinions of local media users residing in Elazığ province were questioned through field research on the basis of Elazığ local media and their perception of reliability towards the media. The data subject to the study was obtained from 400 people residing in Elazığ province using online and face-to-face survey techniques. In the light of the study findings, it was found that the participants always felt the need to receive information/information. The news media that participants use most to get information/news are social media, internet and television. Participants who attribute a significant level of trust to social media also have more trust in social media and television news. Keywords: Media, News, Reliability, Elazığ.
