Continuity and change in repertoires of local music associations: The case of Trabzon

As an inevitable of social life and a tradition of life, change, is a transformation process emerging on the existing situation. Everything that exists changes over time. Societies continue their existence with both change and the conceptual continuities that they determine beside this change. A society separates certain elements during change, giving them continuity. Continuing elements continue their existence in change or become permanent. Music is one of the most important dynamics that can occur as a result of social change or cause social change. At this point, it can be said that there are various change and continuity situations where music exists. In addition to the music performance, the association choirs, which have a separate hierarchical order and where a new socialization has occurred, constitute the case study of the study. The music repertoires of the choirs belonging to the associations that appear according to their characteristics such as their social structures, locations, establishment processes, similarities and differences were examined, and the change and continuity situations of the repertoires were examined. During this scrutiny especially the socio-cultural structure of association choirs and their relations and interactions with Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) who they take as a reference in every sense are focused. While explaining these relations and interactions, the concepts of "communitas", "modernism", "habitus", "capital" and "hegemony" were used.
