Analysis of settlement policies in terms of place philosophy: A s an example of Jerusalem

Throughout the history of humanity, from the first human, Adam, to the present day, societies have established civilizations; have built cities to keep these civilizations alive and live in a civilized way. Cities have carried the understanding of civilization in the period they were established in, on them, like a dress; changed their dresses in line with the times brought by the changing civilization history. Since each civilization had had its perception of essence, a purpose of endowing a qualification has been in the background of the construction of each space in the city. The quality of the place has become its philosophy. In Jerusalem, been a frequent destination for many civilizations, the place has almost become a symbol of power; been destroyed and rebuilt many times by the dominant states. It is on the agenda of the whole world that settlement policies, which are a form of intervention in place, have recently caused many sanctions over the place-power relationship in Jerusalem. This study aims to examine the settlement policies after the 1967 occupation of the east of Jerusalem by considering them in terms of the philosophy of place. It was established in this study that understanding the settlement policies pursued in today's symbol cities solely from a physical standpoint is insufficient, and that metaphysically oriented analyses are also required. The settlement and demographic policies of Jerusalem reveal a lot about how the world's future is planned. It may be claimed that the goal to be attained in Jerusalem serves as the foundation for future world planning. Built on the views and criticisms based on the concepts of space and place in the historical process, the study concentrates on the settlement activities in Jerusalem city, the legal sanctions that affect the settlement policies, and how the policy-planning construct had handled from 1967 to 2020. The effect of settlement policies on urban dwellers had examined by in-depth interviews with three (3) people exposed to these policies and one (1) foreign observer. In the conclusion section, solutions have had offered against this deadlock by specifying the place-power relationship of settlement policies and how it separates Jerusalem and the citizens living in Jerusalem religiously and racially.
