Abstract (EN)

Important works with the potential of historical and cultural architectural heritage are invaluable resources for societies. The transfer of these artifacts, which are threatened by various environmental and human-induced factors, to future generations depends on the completion of the architectural documentation processes and their good preservation. Technologies used in methods such as 3D terrestrial laser scanning and photogrammetry for architectural documentation research today provide powerful data, especially in which large and complex structures are represented with high geometric accuracy. As 3D documentation is more accessible within the scope of architectural documentation studies, inferences based on point cloud models are important data for architectural documentation studies. However, the processing time of the obtained point cloud data and the high cost of laser scanning devices are the main disadvantages of this method. The inclusion of 3D models in building information modeling (BIM) processes adds different perspectives to the documentation and renovation processes of buildings. Integrating BIM technology into architectural documentation processes reveals Historical Building Information Modeling (HBIM) which is an effective method for the management and documentation of historical buildings. BIM which is not yet a widespread technology in our country, enables to carry out cultural heritage documentation studies meticulously thanks to its 3D modeling technique and information management under a single roof. Thanks to the 3D modeling of the documentation works, which are generally carried out in 2D, within the scope of BIM, both a digital twin of the building and a rich smart model are created due to the geometric details and parametric objects it contains. As a result of this modeling, both 3D and 2D plans, views and sections of the structures can be obtained accurately. This thesis focuses on creating a 3D model within the scope of TYBM by performing vector drawings on point cloud data. İsmetpaşa Primary School historical education building was chosen as the study area. Within the scope of the application, the contribution of the 3D model, which is formed by integrating the parametric objects obtained manually through the point cloud into the 3D model and archiving them in the object library, in the architectural documentation processes, the applicability of the method, the interpretations about the HBIM model formed and the results of the use of the TLS method for this purpose were evaluated.
