Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of using computer aid in the teaching of the subject `Motion on the Earth Surface? on student success among high school students. An achievement test which consisted of 45 questions developed and these questions are administered to 155 11th grade students who have already studied the subject just mentioned in various high schools in Iskenderun to obtain the final problem set. The study carried out among 11th grade students at `İskenderun Demir Çelik Anadolu Lisesi? divided into experiment (N=25) and control (N=22) groups. In the study, pre-test and post-test test pattern is used with a control group. In the experimental group, there is a computer with the required simulation software on the subject for each student and the software can be manipulated by each individual student in the lectures, further aid is provided by the teacher on the blackboard and with slides on the subject projected on a screen. The students in the control group have only benefitted from the lectures given by the teacher with the traditional method where the subject is explained on the board and the students have listened to the teacher. The two groups? achievement on the subject of `motion on the earth surface? is compared with a t test and covariance analysis and it is found that those students who get computer aid besides the lectures and explanations given by the teacher on the board and with the slides projected on a screen are more successful compared to students who studied the subject with traditional methods.
