Abstract (EN)

With the developing technology and increasing urbanization, the energy demand is increasing. Since the elimination of this need through the use of conventional resources has negative environmental consequences, it is important to minimize energy consumption and to expand the use of renewable energy sources. Energy consumption rate in Turkey is about 30% of the housing sector is examined. It is possible to provide energy conservation by realizing energy efficient designs in houses. Ensuring this depends on the proper identification and application of all building components and varies according to various factors. In this context, green roofs are an important factor for energy efficiency. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the effect of green roofs on residential heating and cooling load. In different degree day regions, the housing samples designed in different forms were calculated with standard terrace roof and green terrace roof. Heating load was calculated by TS 825 Calculation Method and cooling load was calculated by Cooling Load Temperature Difference Method (CLTD). In addition, the thickness of the plant carrier layer from the green roof components was differentiated and its effect on energy efficiency was investigated. Thus, the effects of the green roof on the sample houses designed in Antalya, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Kayseri and Erzurum provinces on the heating and cooling load of the building were analyzed in accordance with the determined variables and the differences were analyzed.
