Determination of optimal dietary protein level in the artificial feed for the green tiger shrimp (Penaeus semisulcatus)

Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to determine optimal dietary protein requirement of green tiger shrimp (Penaeus semisulcatus), which is on of the most important commercial shrimp species of Turkey. In the experiment, the effects of diets, which are isocaloric and has 5 different protein levels (25%, 30%, 35%, 40% and 45%), on growth performance of the juveniles (1.52 g) were examined. The experiment was designed in three replicates and performed for 42 days. The highest final growth as weight was achieved in the groups fed with 40% and 45% dietary protein levels, and growth performance was low at dietary protein levels lower than 30%. At the end of calculations, optimal dietary protein level for the juveniles of green tiger shrimp (1-2 g) was determined as 38.3% at 28 ºC temperature and 40 ppt salinity.
