Özet (EN)

The main objective of this study is to determine the structural properties of green school and its effect on the environment, health of the building occupants, student success and teacher performance and to determine the causes for the authorities to turn to green schools.To achieve this goal, Turkish and foreign literature was searched and analysed in a way to answer the sub-problems. From this point of view, this research was conducted with descriptive method.As a result of the research, it was revealed that green schools have very low use of limited natural sources and have little environmental footprint. Thanks to using natural lighting strategies, high indoor air quality, acoustic quality, school landscape design and the equipments used in the school, green schools are revealed to have positive effects on health of building occupants, student achievement and teacher performance. Because of its easy managing systems, sensitivity to environment, cost efficiency, positive effect on student achievement and teacher performance, school principles are advised to prefer green schools.Key Words: School Building, Green School, School Environment, Student Achievement, Teacher Performance
